Carriage Bolts

A carriage bolt, also known as a coach bolt or round head square neck bolt, is a type of threaded fastener with a distinctive design. It consists of a threaded shaft with a smooth, unthreaded portion immediately beneath the head, which has a rounded or domed shape. The opposite end of the bolt typically has a square section or a ribbed neck. The square neck or ribbed neck of a carriage bolt is specifically designed to fit into a square hole or slot in the material being fastened. This prevents the bolt from turning as you tighten the nut on the threaded end, allowing for easy and secure installation even in applications where access to both sides of the material is limited. Carriage bolts are commonly used in woodworking, construction, and other applications where a neat and flush finish is desired on one side of the material while maintaining secure and adjustable fastening on the other side. They are often used for attaching wooden parts, fastening hardware to wood, or in situations where appearance and safety are important.
